The Tarot

What is Tarot?
The ancient art of Tarot is a fascinating tool offering insight and guidance on many of the issues we have to deal with whilst on our life's journey. Its powerful symbols and images which are depicted on the 78 cards that form a deck, reflect experiences we all encounter at some point in our lives. In some ways, it offers us a way to get in contact with our subconscious minds.
Imagine each card representing an open door revealing a different view, a hidden message, possibly even hinting at new opportunites. Take a good look and you may find the answer to a question you have been seeking or the possible solution to a problem that has been troubling you. Perhaps the open door may also just give you a glimpse into the future.
On occasion, the Tarot may tell us what we need to hear and not what we may want to hear. Please remember also that nothing is set in stone but the tarot will show you some options you may wish to consider, or ask you to look at something in a different way.
Tarot has been around for hundreds of years and since its creation lost in the mists of time, has evolved not only into an effective tool for divination but also a significant system for spiritual development.
The purpose of a Tarot Reading
The aim of a Tarot Reading, by a reputable reader, should be to empower you the querent. The reading should help you to recognise and tune in to your intuitive senses. It should also help you to 'know' just what it is you really want in life and help you to act upon that knowledge. A Tarot reading can also be a healing experience when done correctly and responsibly.
When should you have a Tarot Reading?
There are no hard and fast rules here in my opinion, as long as the querent (you) are over 18 years of age.
Sometimes a person may have a choice to make in connection with a relationship, their home life or work/career. At other times, a person may just want to see what influences are around them at this time and for the coming 3-6 months. Spiritual development can also be another reason a person may seek a reading.
A couple of common FAQ's
Is the Tarot evil or harmful?
The Tarot is nether evil or harmful, it is after all just a deck of cards but there are some unscrupulous and irresponsible readers about.
Many people also tend to fear what they do not understand.
The Death Card -
If the Death card should appear in a reading spread, it is rarely linked to a physical death. It usually means that the person having the reading is about to start a new phase in their life, an old cycle may be coming to an end, more a time of transformation for them. Possibly it may also show that the person concerned needs to let go of something from the past in order to be able to move on.
(The Magician card comes from the Tarot of Dreams)
